National Gun Appreciation Day is Saturday. KMED will be at Welburn's Weapons on Hwy 62 in White City Noon-2 to celebrate. We're signing up people to win the chance to buy a new AR-15 at "Pre-Panic" price of $855. (You could sell it for double) Must be present at 2pm to win. (Details at store) First 50 people there get KMED "Legalize the Constitution" T-Shirts, or a Welburn's Machine Gun Shoot hat. Plus the old Farmhouse Restaurant has a special meal during the appearance. It'll be fun!

Medford Police Chief Chief Tim George says in today's Mail Tribune:" In this day and age, it is unfortunate, but a reality, that we sacrifice certain liberties we've had for the greater good,". This, in reaction to President Obama's gun violence measures announcement from yesterday.

In the article, Chief George and Sheriff Mike Winters do seem to have a difference of opinion on these matters. Sheriff Winters looks at the gun violence problem as having more to do with mental health, and widespread use of drugs by people with mental illness. Chief George generally agrees with the president's measures to curb gun violence.

What would the founders think of today's gun control debate? I don't pretend to be psychic about such matters, but a quote from one of our earliest patriots comes to mind. Patrick Henry once said “Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force: Whenever you give up that force, you are inevitably ruined.”

Those founders were pretty smart folks...

6:35 Dan Gainor, Culture and Media Institute Violence in the Top 5 Movies.  Hmmm, why so little focus on violence in the media?

7:10 Loma Wharton, and Rae Kopitka from the National Constitutional Sheriffs Association. They're wanting to get on the county commissioner's agenda, and counter what they say is just plain wrong information given out in last month's county counsel presentation on getting more control of local public lands.

7:35 Kevin Starrett, Oregon Firearms Federation, with analysis on the President's gun violence proposal.

8:10 Will Reishmann, Strategic Financial (541) 773-7774, and we talk of the arguments about raising the debt ceiling.
