11-06-13 JOSEPHINE COUNTY VOTES IN SPECIAL ELECTION

JOSEPHINE COUNTY RESIDENTS TURNED OUT TO VOTE IN HIGH NUMBERS YESTERDAY AND SOUNDLY DEFEATED THE 4 MEASURES ON THE BALLOT, ACCORDING TO THE FIRST RETURNS FROM THE COUNTY CLERK. THE SOLID WASTE ORDINANCE REVISION WAS DEFEATED WITH A 76 PERCENT 'NO' VOTE. THE COUNTY CODE ENFORCEMENT MEASURE, THE COUNTY HEARINGS OFFICERS MEASURE AND THE MEASURE TO ADOPT STATE ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH CODES WERE ALL DEFEATED WITH OVER 77% OF THE VOTERS SAYING NO. HOWEVER, THE GRANTS PASS 4 YEAR PUBLIC SAFETY LEVY, FUNDING CITY POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS DID PASS.
