On Monday, the Ashland School Board voted unanimously to continue the new open enrollment policy passed by the Oregon Legislature last year. The policy allows a school district to accept out-of-district students without permission from their home districts. Under the old policy, both school districts had to approve the transfer. Last year, the district was hoping to bring in approximately 300 students, but only 102 applied. Ashland was the only district in the Rogue Valley to adopt the transfer policy.
