Local police are warning residents about an increase in mail thefts. Medford Police have identified approximately 50 victims of mail theft this month. The suspects appear to be targeting unlocked mailboxes in residential neighborhoods, primarily in east Medford. The suspects are stealing checks and credit cards. In many cases, the stolen checks are being forged at various businesses in the Medford area. Police are reminding people to not place money, checks or other valuables in unlocked mailboxes, and to monitor bank accounts for suspicious activity.
