The city of Medford could soon see a "road diet" similar to what the city of Ashland is experimenting with. If approved, four lanes of traffic on East Main Street between Almond Street and Willamette Street would be reduced to two lanes. Bike lanes and a center turn lane would also be added. Studies conducted by traffic engineers have concluded that roads with two travel lanes and a dedicated turn lane can carry as much or more traffic and do it more safely.
