Contract negotiations for 66 employees with the Jackson County Sheriff's Office will be extended by eight days to give both sides an opportunity to resolve their issues. Pink slips were issued in the department last week. Sheriff's Office officials say no middle ground will be reached. Much of the debate currently centers on compensation and pay raises. The layoffs will either be issued to all 66 employees or none of them. A decision is expected by March 8.
