U.S. Congressman Greg Walden introduces a bill which would make a global internet free from government control the official policy of the United States. This bill is more of a jurisdictional issue on who gets to control not the content, but rather the day-to-day structure of the internet. Walden tells KMED that this would have no effect on recent proposals that could allow states to force out-of-state businesses to tax the internet sales of their residents, and send the money back to that state government.
