The Bureau of Land Management tells KMED that they're working about 60 lightning-caused fires in Southern Oregon. All known fires are in the 1-5 acre range. However, some of them are in extremely difficult terrain, and given the temperatures along with slope and fuel availability, they're expecting them to grow throughout the afternoon. Oregon Department of Forestry/Bureau of Land Management are fighting more than 20 fires, mostly north and west of Grants Pass. Douglas County forces are fighting more than 35 fires, Coos County has 2 fires reported, and there are two known fires burning in the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest, which helicopter crews are working.
