7-29-13 UPDATE - DOUGLAS FIRE COMPLEX FORCES EVACUATIONS

7-29-13 FIRE UPDATE - THE DOUGLAS COMPLEX WILDFIRE IS COMPRISED OF A SERIES OF FIRES IN THE GENERAL AREA...   DIVIDED IN THREE DIFFERENT BRANCHES.   THE FIRST IS MILO, WHICH ON EAST OF INTERSTATE 5.     IT CONSISTS OF A GROUP OF SMALLER FIRES, ALL LESS THAN 20 ACRES IN SIZE.  THEY HAVE BEEN LINED, AND FIREFIGHTERS WILL BEGIN MOPPING UP HOT AREAS OF EACH FIRE THIS MORNING.


    THE NEXT IS THE RABBIT MOUNTAIN AND UNION CREEK BRANCH ON THE WEST SIDE OF INTERSTATE 5, AND NORTHWEST OF GLENDALE.    THAT IS WHERE THE TWO MAIN PARTS OF THE OVERALL FIRE ARE.  

AND FINALLY, THE DAD’S CREEK AND PANTHER BUTTE BRANCH...   WEST OF GLENDALE.   THOSE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROMPTING EVACUATION.  AND SO FAR, OFFICIALS HAVE EVACUATED MORE RESIDENTS WHOSE HOMES ARE IN DANGER NEAR THE  DOUGLAS COMPLEX FIRE.

THE LATEST EVACUATIONS ARE IN EFFECT FOR THE POORMAN CREEK AREA, JUST OFF LOWER GRAVES CREEK ROAD.   WE'RE TOLD THE EVACUATION IS EFFECTING 8 HOMES IN THE AREA...   THOSE EVACUATIONS WERE PUT INTO EFFECT SUNDAY AFTERNOON.

ON SATURDAY, THE DOUGLAS COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE EVACUATED ALL HOMES WEST OF MCCULLOUGH CREEK ROAD TO REUBEN...
     AND RESIDENTS EAST OF MCULLOUGH CREEK ROAD TO THE MILL JUST OUTSIDE OF GLENDALE HAVE BEEN ASKED TO PREPARE FOR A POTENTIAL EVACUATION.
 

THE RED CROSS HAS OPENED UP SHELTER FOR RESIDENTS WHO HAVE BEEN EVACUATED AT GLENDALE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.    THE ORGANIZATION SAYS THEY HAVE WIDE VARIETY OF SERVICES THEY CAN PROVIDE TO THOSE RESIDENTS WHO HAVE BEEN EVACUATED...     ALL FREE OF CHARGE.    
 

 

From 7-28-13 -

Josephine County Sheriffs Office is asking residents of Poorman Creek, off Lower Graves Creek Road to evacuate due to danger from the Douglas Fire Complex.  Citizens can evacuate to Glendale Elementary School.  The American Red Cross has a shelter set up there at 100 Pacific Ave. in Glendale.  More information can be found at http://wildfireoregondeptofforestry.blogspot.com/:m=1.  Additional information on the fire can be found here...http://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/3559/
