8-14-13 HOUSING AUTHORITY WANTS MORE LOW INCOME HOUSING

THE JACKSON COUNTY HOUSING AUTHORITY WILL PRESENT PLANS TO THE CITY'S ARCHITECTURAL COMMITTEE THIS FRIDAY AFTER STATING THAT MEDFORD IS IN DIRE NEW OF MORE LOW INCOME HOUSING. THE PROPOSAL INCLUDES 50 AFFORDABLE ONE AND TWO BEDROOM UNITS IN A FOUR STORY COMPLEX. THE NEW COMPLEX WOULD BE LOCATED IN THE HEART OF DOWNTOWN MEDFORD ON THE CORNER OF 6TH AND GRAPE STREETS AND WILL RENT AT ABOUT 20% BELOW MARKET VALUE. RESIDENTS MUST EARN LESS THAN 60% OF THE MEDIAN JACKSON COUNTY INCOME TO QUALIFY FOR THE NEW UNITS.
